Pocket House Studio
We are spinners and weavers offering a unique service to those who have sheep, we can take your raw wool and turn it into a beautiful rug. We are ethical weavers using organic soaps as well as organic cotton warp. You just send us the fleece as it comes from the sheep at shearing and let us do the rest, we have made rugs from just about every breed (except Wiltshire horn!). If you have longwools we can make a rug look like a sheepskin that the sheep would approve of. If you have more than one colour, we have a host of options for patterns and designs, from ones that shout "look at me" to those that whisper "good taste".
We work from a small croft in the Hebrides where we also keep a registered flock of Boreray. We may be at the edge of the world but put your fleeces in a feed sack, box or bin bag and it can be posted from the post office to us in two shakes of a well you know the rest. Prices start at £100, for a unique, long lasting, washable (in the bath) and beautiful reminder of the sheep you raise. If you don't have sheep we are more than happy to weave you something special from our own flock, we have quite a range from Torddu through to Kerry Hill and can even offer a St Kilda rug from our own mix of Boreray, Hebridean and Soay fleeces.
